This course is designed to prepare you for a career in Engineering at the engineering associate level. This course is offered both full-time and part-time.
Note: The Diploma of Engineering - Technical is not a trade qualification. It is a para-professional engineering course, leading to a technical position within engineering companies.
Throughout this course you will develop a good understanding of Mechanical Engineering practices including;
Mathematics principles and techniques in engineering
Materials Science, the properties of materials and how they behave in engineering
Thermodynamics and Dynamics
Stress Calculations and the reactions of forces on beams etc
Drafting, including 2D & 3D CAD
Responsibilities of professional engineers
Sustainability and the effects of Engineering on the Environment
Job Outcome from this course
This qualification prepares people for jobs such as Design Draftsman, Engineering Technician, Estimator and other technical roles.
Pathways / Further Study
Ten (10) of the units from MSA30208 count towards the Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Engineering with full credit to corresponding MEM competency codes.
Twenty (20) of the units from MEM50212 count towards the Advanced Diploma of Engineering with full credit to corresponding MEM competency codes.
This course has been designed to give advanced standing at university towards a Bachelor of Engineering.

Higher Level Skills
Higher Level Skills program supports the Queensland Government's Working Queensland jobs plan.
The program provides a government subsidy to support eligible individuals to access one subsidised training place in selected certificate IV and above qualifications, or priority skill sets.
The aim is to assist individuals to gain the higher level skills required to secure employment or career advancement in priority industries or to transition to university. Employers may also be able to access training to address workforce development needs.
